Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how Go Convert Solutions Ltd, trading as CostQuote, collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit costquote.co.uk, submit an enquiry, communicate with us, or use our comparison and introduction service.
Last updated: 10/06/2026 · Version 1.0
What CostQuote is — and what it isn’t. CostQuote is a comparison and introduction service. We do not lend money, make credit decisions, provide regulated financial advice, or guarantee that any quote, finance or service will be available. Our role is to connect businesses with relevant providers, brokers and suppliers based on the information you give us.
How we’re paid. Our service is free for you to use. We may receive a commission, referral fee or other payment from a provider, broker or supplier if you proceed with a product or service introduced through CostQuote. This does not affect the price you pay.

2. What CostQuote does
CostQuote helps businesses compare and access quotes for business services and, where relevant, business finance. We use the information you provide to understand your requirements, identify providers, brokers or suppliers who may be able to help, introduce you to them, support communications between you and those partners, refer your enquiry to alternative providers where the first option is unsuitable or unavailable, and comply with our legal and record-keeping obligations.
Any quote, rate, term, approval or decision comes from the relevant provider, broker or supplier — not from CostQuote.
3. Personal information we collect
Information you provide: your name, email address, phone number and role in the business; business name, company number, trading and registered addresses; details of what you’re looking for (for business loans this may include the amount needed, purpose, preferred term, sector, trading history, turnover, VAT status and existing borrowing); and anything you provide in forms, calls, emails or messages.
Information collected automatically: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, form interactions, referral source, cookie identifiers, advertising click IDs, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We use this to operate the site, improve the experience, prevent misuse and measure marketing effectiveness.
Information from third parties: Companies House and other public registers (for example, when you use our company lookup we retrieve your registered company details — number, registered address, incorporation date, status and SIC codes — to pre-fill and verify your enquiry); business-information providers; our providers, brokers and supplier partners; and analytics and marketing platforms.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, understand what you need, and identify partners who may be able to help. Where relevant to your enquiry, we share your information with providers, brokers or suppliers so they can assess eligibility, prepare quotes and progress your enquiry. Once introduced, those organisations typically act as separate data controllers under their own privacy notices.
We also use your information to support reassignment where a quote or finance is declined or unavailable, to improve our website and service, to keep business records, to meet legal and regulatory requirements, and to send marketing where permitted. Marketing consent is collected separately from your enquiry, and you can opt out at any time.
5. Lawful bases for using your information
Contract / pre-contract steps: processing needed to provide the service you’ve asked for and connect you with relevant partners.
Legitimate interests: operating CostQuote, responding to and matching enquiries, improving the service, preventing fraud and misuse, record-keeping, and measuring marketing performance — provided these interests aren’t overridden by your rights.
Legal obligation: compliance with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting and fraud-prevention requirements.
Consent: certain marketing communications, non-essential cookies, and any processing where consent is the most appropriate basis. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing.
7. Credit, identity and fraud checks
CostQuote does not run credit checks. Brokers, lenders and providers we introduce you to may verify your identity and business, run anti-money-laundering and fraud-prevention checks, and perform soft credit searches via credit reference agencies. Soft searches should not affect your credit score; if a hard search is needed, the relevant partner should explain this before carrying it out. Fraud-prevention checks may involve fraud prevention agencies, and confirmed fraud findings can affect future access to credit and other services. All credit and funding decisions are made by the relevant partner, not by CostQuote.
8. Marketing communications
We may contact you about your enquiry and send service-related updates. We may send marketing about relevant business services where you’ve opted in or where the law permits. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in our emails or by contacting us. Opting out of marketing won’t stop service messages about an active enquiry.
10. How long we keep your information
Enquiry records: up to six years where needed for compliance, complaints, audit, accounting or legal purposes.
Marketing records: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, subject to suppression-list requirements.
Analytics data: per the retention settings of the relevant provider.
Complaint records: as long as required by regulation or law.
When information is no longer needed we delete it, anonymise it, or securely restrict access.
11. How we protect your information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures including access controls, encryption where appropriate, restricted staff access, secure hosting, monitoring and logging, and internal policies. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we process.
12. International transfers
Some of our technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, we use safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum.
13. Your rights
You may have the right to access your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, request its transfer, withdraw consent, and object to direct marketing at any time. Some rights apply only in certain circumstances and we may need to verify your identity first. To exercise your rights, contact privacy@costquote.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
14. Third-party privacy notices
When we introduce you to a provider, broker or supplier, that organisation becomes responsible for how it uses your information under its own privacy notice. We recommend reading it before proceeding with any application or service.
15. Automated decision-making
CostQuote does not make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Partners we introduce you to may use automated scoring to assess eligibility or fraud risk; where this applies, they should explain it in their own notices.
16. Children
CostQuote is intended for business users aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
17. Updates to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time and will revise the “Last updated” date when we do. Material changes may be flagged more prominently.
